Mass March on Washington, But to What End?

The day after Americans commemorated the suicide bombings of their cities by the 911 terrorists, conservatives and various right forces staged a giant protest march on DC, some estimating turn out at well over a million people.

While, for a nation, where conservatives have only recently figured out that they are allowed to protest, this is a great accomplishment, what in truth does this mean or change? As it stands, in an uncomfortable word: NOTHING...not just NOTHING but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

The socialist president of America, Barack Obama, showed his absolute contempt for these people, by leaving town to make speeches, in the American Midwest, pushing his super control bill: promising to "Call out" his critics and living up to his moniker of "Obeyme". Equally missing were any of the rest of the Marxists from Washington...that is the Marxists from the Democratic wing of the American One Party system. The Marxists from the Republican wing were present, trying to subvert the movement and thus defuse it and doing a very good job of it.

Much of the so called conservative leadership was missing and not to be seen. Who planned this?

The problem, of course, is, as I stated, dear reader, nothing has changed. Sure, a lot of right wing citizens may feel better, lots of anger was pushed out and released and there will be a large cleaning bill, but really, nothing has changed. Americans will get their Cap and Trade and they will get their medical rationing whether they want it or not and it will all be law, absolute law, by the time the next elections come and so entrenched that that will be that.

The problem is, these conservatives still do not understand what it really takes to make change or force change, shy of violence. What it takes is a constant, daily presence of hundreds of thousands sitting in front of the government and screaming every day: "NO!". Look how it is done in other capitals, where tent cities pop up and demonstrations go on for months.

A one day mega march is simply a thunder storm, whose boom is already fading from DC, where the masters of Americans lives, will on Monday, move on to business as usual, laughing at the foolish peoples, over bribe paid champagne.

Sadly, this American conservative must admit that you are right.

The far left has controlled the schools for too long now, so even the conservatives only have a faint memory of what it is that they believed and valued, and much of this is corrupted by leftist teaching. Our conservative leaders are ashamed of our values. The insanity of the left will lead to disaster, but no doubt they will immediately contrive a coherent explanation that blames the conservatives, and we will continue downwards.

This time it's materially different than mass leftist agitation. You must pay attention to who's in the streets. Middle and small businessmen, the self-employed,professionals,members of police and security forces, etc. The protesters are disproportionately tax-payers;Obama's supporters are tax-eaters.The protesters are virtually all privately armed and many are completely willing to take this to any conclusion. I very much appreciated Mr. Mishin's observations, but the current rotted out system cannot and will not be strong enough to remain standing. What replaces it is up for grabs. Some have predicted a breakup of the current union. Some believe we will return of necessity to a Constitutional republic. Some believe we will descend into a "Latin" style junta. But business as usual is over and the world can watch with fascination and horror as we enter a very dark decade. For some time now we have not been the nation that produced Hamilton,Jefferson,Melville or Twain;we pollute the world with the whore "Madonna" and pedophile Michael Jackson and such garbage as"rap". Now the world can watch and see what happens to a nation that spawns such filth. It rots away by definition. I have repeatedly stated before that I like to look at discrete 10 year periods. Compare 1999 to 2009...and now think 2019. I enjoy this blog because Mr. Mishin is not only a Russian patriot in tune with what I believe the majority of his countrymen think, but he understands the future for our two countries is not going to be what foolish "American" neo-cons predicted .

Not a giant march: Somewhere between 30K and 80K people, on a weekend.

Large enough to show that it wasn't completely disorganized, but that is about this.

The estimates of 2 million in attendance actually came from the Democrats, who were pushing that number before the event, in order to minimize the numbers afterwards.

ABC, complained that they misquoted on the crowd size:

Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks, the group that organized the event, said on stage at the rally that ABC News was reporting that 1 million to 1.5 million people were in attendance.

At no time did ABC News, or its affiliates, report a number anywhere near as large. ABCNews.com reported an approximate figure of 60,000 to 70,000 protesters, attributed to the Washington, D.C., fire department. In its reports, ABC News Radio described the crowd as "tens of thousands."

I do find it very funny when ABC complains about being misquoted.

Respectable, but not in the least surprising.

Additionally, the message discipline was lax. You saw signs from birthers, English-Only, immigration nativists, anti-abortion types, etc.

No one was on the same page.

hamilton x, there is little that I can add to your post which is excellent. I too think it is a dark decade ahead but will add that I think the turn for the worse started in the 1990's before the bombing of Yugoslavia and the formation of the SCO in the East. In my analysis there is nothing that can now stop the descent of the US into social, economic, and political disaster.

You asked who organized the march on Washington? 9/12 groups from all over the U.S. went there. You are right,we have to sit in front of govt. buildings, we have to stand on street corners, many of us are doing that. We have been non-violent. Why should we resort to the kind of behavior that the leftist thugs are capable of,that we have encountered at town hall meetings. The annointed one, Obama shows contempt for the tax paying people every day. His supporters are tax eaters while his opponents are tax payers. People are losing their jobs every day. Homes are still being foreclosed on. Yet this moron Obama says the recession is over. The American people are not stupid. I did not go to Washington, because I think more can be done right here in our own towns and cities. The money spent on that trip could be used to support candidates to run against the corrupt criminals we have in Washington. The march got more news coverage on the foreign press than in this country.

For once I agree with you on the fact that nothing will change unless they stage a protest for more than 8 hours.

It seems like they treat a protest like going to work. Show up grab coffee scream and yell put up signs and then drive home.

Nice writing.

We are witnessing the start of a movement which will fight to death for the American dream/constitution.
I haven't seen anything like this since the days of Yugoslavia circa 1990...

To get conservatives to act out politically takes alot. Conservatives have jobs, families and many responsibilities that prevent them from creating the tent cities you write about.

But we have shown up at town hall meetings, written emails and letters to our representatives, called them by phone, and it all culminated in Saturday's 912DC march. I hope our elected representatives have gotten the message. Google the term "wave election" to see what is in store if they continue to ignore the will of the people.

If the socialist healthcare and cap and trade bills do pass without major concessions from their current form, then I predict the "wave election" will happen. Even so, I agree it will be very difficult, politically, to reverse the legislation. Doing so would risk enraging the left to the point they may riot in the streets. That's how passionate they are about jamming their socialist agenda down our throats.

Our country has never been so divided about so many issues since the Civil War nearly 150 years ago. Perhaps irreconcilably. Pat Buchanan wrote a column last week asking if the U.S. were coming apart. With so many issues dividing us, and so few uniting us, he asked a very relevant question.

I think there using this whole race thing as a cover and Obama and blacks and others as a scape goat to deflect attention away from the act that the financial system they created is falling apart and they are delaying the inevitable even cause riots to impose martial law. WN groups will become like the John Birch society.

Who organised, financed and promoted this march and others like the tea parties?

Millions of angry Americans marching in the streets is not just a passing thing. Getting Americans to pay attention to anything isn't easy. This march is the tremors that occur before a volcano erupts.

Nothing will change because nobody in Washingon represents Tom, Dick, and Harry from Main Street, USA who marched on Saturday.

The Democrats represent the interests of big government, and the Republicans represent the interests of big business. In short, both political parties represent monopolists who wish to bleed every last penny from the consumer class, whether it be through high taxes or easy credit.

The Republicans view this march, and are trying to capitalize on this march, as an anti-Obama/Democrat movement, but it's an anti-monopolist movement. Unfortunately, Conservatives will be wooed by the Republicans who will get right back to business as usual, transferring the earnings of their constituency to corporate America as they claim only the Democrats and big government could.

Only when we send people to Washington who represent the value of individual liberty for Tom, Dick, and Harry in Main Street, USA, will positive change occur.

(Thank you, Stanislav, for recommending "Wall St. and the Bolshevik Revolution" which was instrumental in forming these thoughts.)

The Mall in Washington DC was full. Have you ever been there? 70K people would not have even sufficient to totally flood it as it was the case of the march. My estimation is that close to a million were there by the size of the crowd. Who knows. As for the impact of the march, you are right, it will take constant marches, protests to do it. The Tea Party format is good, but conservatives by their very nature are shy of this type of activity.

Stan...You said: "The socialist president of America, Barack Obama, showed his absolute contempt for these people, by leaving town to make speeches, in the American Midwest..."

First...the term "socialist" to describe Obamanista seems inadequate. My personal choice would be "islamo-marxist". Second...do not be too sure the obamanistas "unavailability" to face the demonstrators stemmed so much from "absolute contempt" as from "absolute terror". The size and temprament of the crowd was such they'd as soon tear him limb from limb...or the asshole Biden if he'd shown his face. And they wouldn't need some "mickey mouse" conservative leader telling them what to do. And obamanista knows the US army is NOT going to protect his ass from outraged Americans

Stas is a typical closet conservative: a habitual liar, an intolerant blogger (I have been repeatedly banned from this blog for daring to express views opposing to his, while simultaneously being described by him as an “unrepentant homo” and a “loony”), and a secret FSB money recipient. This is all just too bad: he is not contributing to the discourse but rather enflames it even more – just what we need right now in this country, right? First of all, he fails to notice that 60K people “marching” on D.C. is nothing for the metro area of 6 million. Secondly, he fails to mention that the so-called march was organized and heavily staffed by the right-wing conspirators: according to FOX News, approximately 80% of them were from the uneducated, homophobic, racist South (there were a lot of slogans carried by the demonstrators that read “Kick the kyke (referring to Mr. Emmanuel) out of the White House” and “White Power Rules!” (referring to Mr. Obama’s color of skin). Thirdly, according to any pole, anything between 68 and 75% of American public continues to SUPPORT Pres. Obama and his reform plans. The Russians are understandably afraid of strong, free, and God-fearing America, with its health-care fixed and its people prosperous and patriotic – all the things Mr. Obama stands for. Stas is nothing but an FSB stooge working for his pay in bloody oil rubles (Russian currency). I know his type well. Don’t listen to him, my fellow Americans.

Stan…You may recall, in the early days of the obama regime, he would summon CEO’s into his presence for the purpose of “extorting” them by threatening them and their wives and children using thug words like “I’m the only one standing between you and the pitchforks”. Remember that?? Well, I think in the interim, as Americans have awakened to what obama really is (islamo-marxist), the vast majority have developed a deep contempt for their new president…a usurper who cannot even supply a valid birth certificate. Consequently, the “pitchforks” he once threatened corporate CEO’s with he now senses are looking for him, and NO ONE…not the secret service, not the US military…are going to stand between him and the pitchforks. In other words the shoe is on the other foot and if the demonstrators had ignited, could’ve taken control of the city, the Whitehouse and the Capitol Bldg. So obama’s departure from the capitol over the weekend was not so much out of contempt for the demonstrators, as out of sheer effing fright. Do not be surprised if, as events unfold and the level of disaffection with obama increases, the next time he entirely flees the country and we put in a military administration on an interim basis pending a TOTAL CLEANOUT of obamanista accomplices from all branches of government and restoration of our Constitutional Republic. This I believe would be a step toward world peace and stability.

I wonder how Piotr can know so many details about the march with such precision when the media doesn't? The media is reluctant to put a number on the crowd size, most choosing to say "tens of thousands". Maybe this is 60K, seem larger than that to me, be sure to enlarge by clicking and scroll from side to side:

http://iowntheworld.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/capitol-view-lo-res.jpg

Why is Piotr making stuff up about Foxes reporting? I watched Fox exclusively that day. I never heard them say 80% of the protestors were from the south. And I 100% GUARANTEE they didn't say "80% of them were from the uneducated, homophobic, racist South" as he claims they reported. You have proven yourself to be a despicable liar to advance you liberal socialist agenda as well as a small minded bigot for calling people from the south racists. You're disgusting.

You liberals, now including the worst U.S. president ever, who insist on calling everybody who opposes Obama as a racist are on dangerous ground. That is an inflammatory charge. You risk creating an artificial race war.

Americans have seen 97% of eligible black voters vote for a black man for president and we're the racist? Give me a break. No white candidate could ever get 97% of the white vote. Not even Jesus Christ could get 97%. Blacks voted based on skin color. They voted based on race. But southern whites are racist? We've seen Obama sit in a church for 20 years listening to a man preach with total contempt for white America, and yet you say southern whites are racist. We see Obama take the side of an elite Harvard black professor who was being a belligerent ass to a white common policeman who was called to investigate a potential burglary, yet southern whites are racists. We see highly qualified whites who lose opportunities to less qualified blacks due solely to affirmative action, and you say southern whites are racists.

God help us if you really are a university level professor shaping young minds, because you're an idiot.

Piotr's ongoing and losing struggle with the English language is difficult enough for readers. His observations about recent events are knowingly false. His comments about our beloved South are cowardly and frankly very unoriginal. Finally, his reference to "my fellow Americans "is insulting. Piotr is a barely tolerated and rude "guest worker" who has saturated himself in the lowest dregs of "American" pop culture in a failed attempt to become one of us. You are a "wild and crazy guy" Piotr in your polyester suit insulting our South...that's all.

"...according to any pole, anything between 68 and 75% of American public continues to SUPPORT Pres. Obama and his reform plans." ? Why does Piotr think that the Poles are authorities on what Americans think? Is he Polish? Anyways, they're very wrong. The last poll I saw had the Obamanation approval at 49%. I didn't ask any Poles because I currently don't know any.
